Open Source Advertising

Those clever people at Spread Firefox have announced the publication of their open-sourceFirefox_1 advertisement in the New York Times today.  The ad was paid for members of the 50,000 strong community that produce, markete and distribute the Firefox browser.  The ad is one element of the company's battle with Microsoft's IE product.  It's open source marketing at it's most powerful.  Lots of lessons to be learnt here for the modern marketeer.

The ad itself lists the names of the people who chipped in.  Maybe they should have got open-source designer George Masters to add a bit of grassroots spice.
