Peter Preston is a highly respected journalist and ex-editor of the Guardian. In his weekly Observer column this week he writes about blogs and seems to be uneasy about their role. He includes this comment about political blogging in the US leading to the fall of Senator Tom Daschle.
Good, maybe, if you dislike media bias and arrogance and want to change it. Bad, because a handful of militant bloggers or media watchers aren't true public opinion. But pause for thought as triumphant bloggers look for their next victims.
Strange comment from such a famous liberal. Does Preston really think Big Media really represents public opinion but bloggers are just the lunatic fringe? Reminds me of one of my favourite quotes of '04 from Johnnie Moore.

Well of course the lunatic fringe is better represented among bloggers. They're the motivated ones.
