Jack Trout is an American consultant and founder of Trout & Partners. The company website tells us that JT 'is recognized as the world's
foremost marketing strategist.' So his recent comments in the Christian Science Monitor about the rise of the 5th Estate...
consumer generated media and spoof ads have caused a bit of a stir in the US.
"It's a real problem. And the problem gets bigger the more people see this stuff. It begins to muddy the message." He concludes: "The ad industry should rise up against" amateur ads.
Either Trout is trying to prove a Kanute style point or the world's foremost marketing strategist really believes the 5th Estate is going to just disappear. Bless him.
