USA Today reports on the legalities of consumer generated media and the 5th
estate. Lots of 'gripe sites' are being set up in the US by unhappy customers. Some are actually vehicles for legal action designed to attract other unsatisfied buyers to support proceedings.
These can quickly turn into troublesome communities that companies struggle to manage. Such as www.MyVWLemon.com, which boasts 2,000 members and about 15,000 message board postings. Or the Verizen Wireless case. One thing is for sure, if you find yourself counter-sueing your own customers, something is going wrong... (via Micropersuasion)
