Yahoo has launched a service that allows people to search for content available under the Creative Commons license. As CC founder Lawrence Lessig explains this is like a search for, "pictures of the Empire State Building that I can use for noncommercial use."

I went along to Six Apart's Blogs In Action seminar last week. It was pretty interesting, especially John Dale of Warwick Blogs who talked about the difficulties of setting up and running a community for 20,000 students. Suw Chairman captured the whole thing for those who couldn't make it.

Further to John Naughton below, today's Independent Charles Arthur notes that the European Council's drive to introduce software patents in the EU, and in doing so restrict the threat of Open Source, may have been prompted by Microsoft, and specifically Bill Gates' visit to the Danish government last November.
