'Mash-up' is a term used to describe a new web service that is created out of two existing applications. It all sounds horribly technical but the outcomes are often quite fun. Mysociety has created Placeopedia by mashing-up Wikipedia with Google Maps. It's a great example of innovation in a world where open standards is becoming the norm.
