I normally share my highly insightful and totally non-partisan thoughts about Arsenal FC over here but today Arseblog, Daddy of the Arsenal bloggers, offers some raw, ranting advice on community building to the BBC that modern marketeers everywhere can benefit from. "Word to the BBC - If you’re going to get in on the whole blog thing at least allow your
readers the chance to provide feedback on the posts whether it’s
positive or negative. Your comment policy
is so convoluted it allows you to abitrarily pick and choose the
comments...the point about blogs is that
you can have your say, you can have it published and people can respond
to that. That’s the beauty of it - it sparks conversation between
people. If you want an example of how it’s done on a bigger scale then look at
the Guardian. A simple registration procedure allows you to comment on
any of the blogs they publish every day. Why does the BBC need 18-24 hours to moderate comments? If that’s the
way you’re going to go then stop calling them blogs - because they’re not." Ooomph!
[UPDATE: My that's impressive, the BBC listen and respond to the one man Arseblog, especially as the man who replied is a Spurs fan. Interesting days when massive broadcasting corporations are listening to the little guys, albeit the ones with big blogs].
