There's a short interview with Jimmy Wales, the founder of wikipedia here. It includes this great quote...(via Ben at Reevoo)...
"You don't expect people to vandalize the wiki any more than they would vandalize the Coke machine. If you anticipate problems with employees maliciously changing documents, you've got much worse problems."
Now some of you may be wondering what wikis have to do with modern marketing...
The answer is that open systems, like wikis, that allow collaboration between a company and its clients are a powerful way to bring customers into a company culture and, in doing so, create a valuable community of advocates for a brand, product or commercial issue.
(I met Jimmy at Reboot 7.0, he is a totally brilliant modern marketeer and all round good guy too. He did a presentation at Reboot on a massive screen and when his laptop went to sleep these enormous pictures of his young daughter - on his screensaver - were projected. When asked what his inspiration was he simply pointed at the screen and said, "she's right there". It was a welcome human touch in a fairly hardcore geekfest).
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.
