Modern Marketing on the BBC

I took part in the BBC R4 programme Shop Talk this morning, which was a discussion about how blogs and Citizen's Media can be used in business.  It will be aired on Tuesday September 6th and should be a useful introduction to the subject.  I was joined by Heather Platts of the Soap Blog, Simon Phipps of Sun Microsystems, Azeem Azhar and Adriana - as well as a pre-recorded Tom MacMahon.

Dell Listens & Learns

Dell has given Jeff Jarvis a grudging apology following his one man campaign about their service levels.  "Obviously, Mr. Jarvis' experience could've been handled better," Dell said.  (D'ya think ?) MSN Spaces Arrives

MSN's blogging service Spaces is steaming along in the blogopshere. Nielsen/Netrating's Understanding the Blogopshere report, shows the number of people interacting with Spaces in the US has grown a whopping 947 per cent this year, attracting nearly 3.3 million visitors in July, compared to about 300,000 in January....

Easy Listening

I have started a few new blog monitoring services recently for companies, large and small, and the results are proving genuinely surprising to clients - surprising because they are more relevant than most expect.  I think this is simply because the blogopshere's growth means that it is becoming more diverse and therefore a more interesting and representative public forum....

Blogs : Not Just Quantity

'One-new-blog-a-second' was always going to be the headline from this round of Technorati's biannual State of The Blogopshere report.  However, looking a little deeper into the analysis, it's clear that the growth in the quantity of consumer generated media is being matched by its quality and sophistication.  The chart here shows the posting volumes with the real world events driving the conversation indicated, including the London bombings.

O2 Responds To Blogs

O2, the UK mobile operator, has announced that it will be changing the specification of one of it's products in response to a blogging community, reports the BBC.

"We have listened to the feedback customers have given us and involved the blogging community in the testing of the new solution," said an O2 spokesperson.
