The launch of the new Guardian is covered here in a blog written by the editorial team. It gives a real sense of what the project was like to work on and is a good example of a modern marketing company opening up. It seems that the paper's new set-up goes beyond a fresh font. Writing this week Ian Mayes, an industry ombudsmen, writes...
"The extra involement of the readers through the dedicated email and phone team as well as through the blog, marked a quantum leap in the open relationship that exists between the paper and its readers."
And this new outlook has created immediate results. The cartoon Doonesbury was initially dropped from the new look paper but then reinstated after 1000 people protested. 250 fans of the strip were even sent an email letting them know directly. (Via Bowblog).
